Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee


The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee ensures that LWVH is promoting and employing all measures, principles, and practices of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the League, community, and region. The committee offers three levels of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion engagement and outreach: intra-League, Hudson Community, and county/regional.

Objectives:
  • Develop infrastructure and resources for Committee’s three levels of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion engagement and outreach
  • Align LWVH’s existing policies and practices with LWVUS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles and tenets in, but not limited to, voter outreach, advocacy, education, member and volunteer recruitment, communications, partnerships, funding, contract/vendors
  • Infuse LWVUS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles, philosophies, and best practices into new LWVH programming and initiatives
  • Develop Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion repository, professional development resources, and tool kits for LWVH, Community, and region
  • Develop new programs, initiatives, education, and partnerships specifically focused on promoting and showcasing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Develop Real Talk Program, a multi-League Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion education program for Northeast Ohio residents
  • Assist with expansion of LWVH Voter Services and voter outreach into northern Summit County, including nine townships/cities, specifically targeting marginalized and oppressed communities


Accomplishments:
  • Received Board Approval to launch Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee - July 2020
  • Convened five area Leagues to develop Real Talk Program
  • Joined Hudson Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Alliance Task Force
  • Partnered with AkronVotes2020


How Committee Members help?

  • Research Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion education resources, models, professional development resources, and workshops for LWVH DEI Repository
  • Research, partner with, and join Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion focused organizations and agencies
